GV Health accounts can be paid in person, over the phone or via bank transfer.

Pay in person at Cashier office located on the Ground Floor of the Administration Building at our Graham Street campus.

To pay over the phone or bank transfer (EFT) call our cashier on (03) 5831 0162 (option 1). The Cashier is open Monday – Friday, 9.00am – 4.00pm.

Medicare Ineligible Patients

A Medicare ineligible person is any visitor to Australia who does not hold a valid Medicare card, or does not fall under one of the classifications below:

  • Asylum seekers and refugees
  • Reciprocal Rights


As a Medicare ineligible patient, it is your responsibility to ensure that you have health insurance cover or adequate money to cover the cost of your health care.

Medicare ineligible patients are required to pay upfront for the costs associated with any medical treatment received at GV Health, including costs that are not covered by your insurer.

You will be required to provide the following information

  • Valid Passport
  • Valid Visa documentation
  • Contact information, both for your stay in Australia and overseas residential contact details
  • Details of your relevant health insurance policy

If you do not pay or have not agreed to a suitable payment arrangement with GV Health, your accounts will be forwarded to a debt collection agency.

Asylum Seekers and Refugees

Asylum seekers and refugees are provided with free medical care (including diagnostic services) in Victorian hospitals.

Please note as an asylum seekers/refugee you will need to produce appropriate documents confirming your status from the Department of Immigration and Citizenship or a recognised asylum support agency, such as Red Cross.

You will be required to provide the following information:

  • Evidence of Immigration Status (e.g. Immicard) interim Medicare Card, and or letter from recognized Asylum Support Agency (e.g. Red Cross)
  • Passport
  • Visa documents

If evidence of Immigration status is not produced you will be expected to pay for all associated medical costs; however, fees will be waived once the documents are presented.

Reciprocal Healthcare Agreement (RHCA)

To receive medical treatment and services under the Reciprocal Health Care Agreement at GV Health, the following documents are required:

  • Valid Passport
  • Valid Visa documents
  • Valid European Health Insurance Card
  • Contact information, both for your stay in Australia and overseas residential contact details

Transport Accident Commission (TAC)

If your attendance or admission at GV Health is related to a transport accident, you are required to lodge a claim with the Transport Accident Commission (TAC). You will be asked to sign a Compensable Patient Election form that will enable GV Health to assist you with initiating a claim with TAC.

If your claim is accepted, TAC may pay for all the reasonable costs associated with your hospital admission, medical treatment and services which are clinically required as a result of your injuries sustained in the transport accident.

Once you have an approved TAC claim, all associated accounts from GV Health will be forwarded to TAC on your behalf. If you fail to lodge a claim with the TAC, any medical service costs that you have incurred may be forwarded to you for payment.

GV Health follows the fees and guidelines set and published by the Department of Health.

WorkCover

If your attendance or admission at GV Health is related to a workplace accident or injury, you are required make a claim through your employer to the Victorian WorkCover Authority. You will be asked to sign a Compensable Patient Election form that will enable GV Health to help assist you initiating a WorkCover claim.

After a workplace accident or injury has occurred, there are certain steps you will need to follow to ensure that you meet your obligations in the claims. More information is available on the WorkSafe website.

GV Health follows the fees and guidelines set and published by the Department of Health.

Private Patients

Patients with private health insurance can elect to be treated as either public or private patient. As a private patient at GV Health, you’re helping us improve our services and facilities for the future.

By electing to be admitted as a private patient you will have no out-of-pocket expenses. All accounts incurred during your hospital stay will be billed directly to your health fund on your behalf.

GV Health follows the fees and guidelines set and published by the Department of Health. All patients receive the same quality of care, treatment and services, regardless of financial status.
