GV Health is a teaching hospital hosting many undergraduate, graduate, post-graduate, interns and work experience students each year.
Our health care teams are committed to the education of students on clinical placement and to new graduates looking for a well-rounded introduction to their chosen career path. We actively support student placement education programs as a key strategy in promoting rural workforce recruitment and retention.
Students from a range of disciplines and academic institutions undertake placements at GV Health during the year.
GV Health offers a range of graduate programs designed to support your development from student to qualified health professional. Each program includes a comprehensive induction and orientation, supernumerary time, supported learning and development opportunities/study days, debriefing and clinical support.
Graduate programs include:
- Graduate Dental Program
- Graduate Mental Health Program
- Graduate Nursing Program
GV Health’s Vocational Educational Training in Schools (VETiS) program provides year 11 and 12 school students with practical insight and experience working within a healthcare environment.
The VETiS program enables students to access a wide variety of both clinical and non-clinical professions and, upon successful completion of the two-year program, students will obtain the following qualifications:
- Certificate III in Health Services Assistance
This qualification enables graduates to work in a range of roles that assist health professionals.
- Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance
This qualification enables graduates to assist allied health professionals and work under direct supervision. Graduates do not conduct programs or therapeutic intervention; however, they assist professionals who do.
The VETiS program is delivered in a classroom environment at GV Health’s Graham Street, Shepparton campus and includes placements in various departments across the hospital to support student’s classroom learnings.
For more information or to apply, year 10 students should contact their school careers teacher.
