GV Health’s acute medical unit provides care for adults with a variety of medical conditions.

The unit is serviced by a dedicated multidisciplinary team to provide holistic, compassionate care for all patients. The team consists of consultants, registrars, interns, nurses, patient liason nurses, health assistants, health care workers, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech pathologists, dietitians and social workers.

How do I get admitted to GV Health’s acute medical unit?

Admission to the acute medical unit is primarily via the emergency department, transfer from another GV Health ward or transfer from another health service.

What to bring to hospital?

  • Comfortable clothing
  • Underwear
  • Nightwear
  • Thongs or slippers
  • Personal toiletries (soap, moisturiser, shampoo, lip balm, deodorant, hairbrush, tooth brush, toothpaste etc)
  • Prescription and non-prescription medications, if needed (please let your care team know)
  • Phone charger
  • Small comfort items eg pillow, blanket, drink bottle
