Antenatal Classes

GV Health offers antenatal classes, typically commencing at 30-32 weeks gestation.

These classes are particularly helpful for those expecting their first child or wishing to refresh their knowledge.

Our antenatal classes are designed to help you and your support person feel more comfortable, educated and empowered. The information provided will allow you to make informed decisions regarding your pregnancy and labour care.

We cover an extensive list of topics including:

• Normal labour and birth
• Variations to normal birth including inductions and caesarean sections
• Birth suite/Maternity/Special Care Nursery tour
• Breast and bottle feeding
• Parenting
  
  

We encourage interactive communication in our classes and welcome all questions and feedback.

For your convenience, two types of classes are offered:

• Five consecutive Wednesday evenings, 7pm – 9pm
• Two consecutive Sunday mornings, 9am – 1pm
  
  

Classes cost $50, or $25 for those with a Health Care Card. More information can be provided at your pregnancy appointment.
