Tai Chi for Beginners is a series of gentle, slow, controlled movements or postures combined with mindful breathing techniques aimed at relaxing the mind and body. People of all ages and abilities can gain health benefits as the movements are modified for chronic health conditions, and are gentle and non-competitive. Sessions are conducted once per week for 60 minutes.

GV Health staff are certified Instructors via the Tai Chi for Health Institute. Qualifications are required to be updated every 2 years under the instruction of a Master Trainer.

A Medical Clearance is required for the booking process. 

Tai Chi can be seated or standing (based on medical clearance). Bariatric chairs are provided.

Session Times

Tai Chi sessions are held at Community Health @ GV Health on Corio Street, Shepparton.

Tai Chi for Beginners currently runs 10am-11am on Thursdays, until 30 November 2023.

From 7 December 2023, two groups will be offered on Thursday mornings. Beginners Tai Chi at 9am -10am and Beyond Beginners Tai Chi at 10.30am – 11.30am.

Who is the Tai Chi for Beginners program available to?

GV Health’s Tai Chi for Beginners program is available to all people in the community aged over 18 years.
