Screening to Specialist Care: GV Health Supports Women’s Health

Meryula Clinic
GV Health’s Meryula Clinic provides free, confidential sexual health services for people of all ages.
Staffed by experienced nurse practitioners and specialist nurses, the clinic provides screening and treatment for sexually transmitted infections, contraception, pregnancy testing, and more.
Rural Sexual Health Nurse Practitioner, Suzanne Wallis and Hepatology Clinical Nurse Consultant, Kate-Louise Howard, said sexual and reproductive rights belong to everybody, with no exceptions.
“Our clinic offers personalised support to receive specialist sexual health care at no cost,” Suzanne added.

New Women‘s Clinics Construction
Construction of the new Women’s Clinics is underway at Shepparton Hospital, with completion expected by February 2027.
The clinics are currently in Rosewood and will relocate to Building C once the work is complete.
GV Health’s Executive Director, Capital Projects and Infrastructure and Support Services, Shane Tremellen, said the project reflects the commitment to investing in better healthcare spaces for the community.
“This new facility will also allow us to grow our services to support more women across the region,” Shane said.
Services moving to the new location include gynaecology and the public fertility care service.

Women’s Recovery Network (Wren)
Delivered through a partnership between GV Health, Alfred Health, and Ramsay Health Care, Wren is a specialist mental health service for women and anyone who identifies as a woman, aged 18 years and over, presenting with severe mental illness.
Wren’s Consultant Psychiatrist, Dr Rajlaxmi Khopade, said Wren started as a pilot project backed by the Victorian Department of Health in August 2022.
“Wren is now an ongoing service after overwhelmingly positive feedback,” Rajlaxmi said.
At this stage, Wren is not a self-referral service, but your treating team can request a referral for Wren to review.

GV Health‘s Public Fertility Care Service
GV Health offers free access to comprehensive fertility treatment, including genetic counselling, fertility preservation, fertility assessment and treatment.
With over 18 years of experience at GV Health, Nurse and Midwife, Stacy Kay, said fertility treatments can be exhausting and costly for patients and their families.
“Personally, my colleague and I have both undergone IVF ourselves and know how stressful it can be,” Stacy said.
“Nevertheless, the most rewarding part of my job and this process is when someone sends us a picture of their newborn baby!”
To access Victoria’s free Public Fertility Care Service, your GP or specialist must send a referral, with relevant test results, to the Royal Women’s Hospital, which leads to the service at GV Health after acceptance.
