Volunteers back on deck

December 5 was International Volunteer Day to recognise and celebrate some of our wonderful GV Health volunteers, which came shortly after we were able to officially welcome them back to the service.

We welcomed them back as part of a gradual return from October 31, after not being on site for nearly two-and-a-half years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, apart from two short stints in March 2021 and May 2022.

Their onsite numbers and the areas they are active in will increase over the coming months as part of this staged return.

They can be spotted about the hospital in a variety of areas, including in wayfinding and oncology to start.

The volunteers are keen to get back to doing what they love best after a long period off – but are still getting used to the numerous changes that have taken place in their absence.

They are a welcome sight for our employees, who are looking forward to their assistance as them well-loved and appreciated members of the team.

Patients and visitors to GV Health are also grateful to have them back for the help they provide while at our service.
