Job satisfaction has been a defining part of exercise physiologist Hayley Napier’s career at GV Health, where helping patients achieve more than they thought possible continues to inspire her every day.

For Ms Napier, the most rewarding aspect of her role is seeing the direct impact she can have on people’s lives.

“I love building rapport and helping people understand that through movement and exercise, they can achieve more than they think,” she said.

“It’s incredibly satisfying to work with someone who might feel limited at the start, and then watch their confidence and ability grow over time.”

After growing up in Numurkah and completing her studies in Bendigo, Ms Napier first connected with GV Health through a student placement — an experience that made a lasting impression.

“I’ve always enjoyed living locally, and when I did my placement here, I could really picture myself working here,” she said.

Eight years on, she has built a fulfilling career, beginning in the Mary Coram Unit rehabilitation team before playing a key role in expanding exercise physiology services into outpatient care.

“Over time, the scope of our work has grown a lot,” she said.

“Now we focus on musculoskeletal care, post-operative orthopaedic rehabilitation and helping people manage conditions like osteoarthritis — which means we can support people at different stages of their recovery.”

Alongside the clinical impact, Ms Napier said the supportive workplace culture at GV Health has been central to her job satisfaction.

“The flexibility and support, especially through pregnancy and returning to work, has been amazing,” she said.

“We work with a great group of people, and that makes all the difference — it’s a really positive environment to be part of.”

For Ms Napier, the combination of meaningful patient outcomes and a supportive team continues to make GV Health a place where she feels motivated and fulfilled in her work.
