Graduate Mental Health Program
At GV Health, Mental Health Nurses play a vital role in supporting the wellbeing, recovery, and mental health outcomes of individuals, families, and communities across the Goulburn Valley region.
Working within the Goulburn Valley Area Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (GVAMHWS), Mental Health Nurses provide compassionate, recovery-focused, and evidence-based care across a range of inpatient, community, and specialist mental health settings.
Mental Health Nursing at GV Health
Mental Health Nurses work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to support consumers, carers, and families through all stages of care.
This may include:
- Mental health assessment and care planning
- Recovery-focused support and interventions
- Crisis response and risk assessment
- Patient and family education
- Care coordination and advocacy
- Collaborative care within multidisciplinary teams

Graduate Mental Health Nurse Program
The Graduate Registered Nurse – Mental Health Program provides an opportunity for graduate nurses to begin their careers within mental health services in a supportive learning environment.
The program supports:
- Transition to independent mental health nursing practice
- Consolidation of theoretical learning and clinical skills
- Ongoing professional development and reflective practice
- Exposure to a variety of mental health clinical settings (3 rotations)
- Continued studies and future postgraduate pathways in mental health nursing,
- Recognised Prior Learning (RPL) towards post graduate studies for successful completion of the program
Graduate nurses are supported by experienced clinicians, educators, and multidisciplinary teams throughout the program.

Eligible candidates must apply through Postgraduate Medical Council of Victoria (PMCV) Allocation and Placement Service via PMCV website , create an account and then apply to the PMCV match when it opens on Monday 1st June, 2026. In addition, direct application must also be made to GV Health via current vacancy page.
