Car Parking Improvements at Shepparton Hospital

Project status: To commence

Project update

Car parking improvement works will be undertaken at Shepparton Hospital from 29 June 2026.

Parking at Shepparton Hospital is under pressure for staff, patients, visitors and the community, and GV Health is taking practical action to improve access, safety and traffic flow across the campus.

The self-funded project will deliver 80 new car parks at the Shepparton Hospital campus, including additional staff parking and improved parking at the main entrance.

These important improvements will help reduce pressure on surrounding streets and support more public parking being available for patients, visitors and carers.

Works are expected to take approximately 15 weeks from commencement.

Overview

The works will be staged to minimise disruption, and will include:

  • Improving parking and traffic flow at the main entrance, including creating a new exit point
  • Increasing capacity in the Numurkah Road staff car park
  • Supporting better access to public parking for patients, visitors and carers

Traffic and parking impacts

The first stage of the works will focus on:

  • Adding parking spaces to the Numurkah Road staff car park, using space that is currently vacant
  • Reconfiguring the main entrance car park to create a new exit point and improve traffic flow

During the first stage of works, a small number of parking spaces near the main entrance of Shepparton Hospital will be temporarily unavailable.

Patients, visitors and carers should continue to follow signage and allow extra time.

Other site impacts

Several trees near the main entrance will need to be removed to allow the main entrance public car park to be extended and optimised, with uni-directional traffic flow to ease congestion and improve safety.

Replacement planting will be incorporated as part of the project.
