Your Health Isn’t a Hack – It’s a Game Plan
Home | Public Health Unit | Your Health Isn’t a Hack – It’s a Game Plan
Let’s be real: your health is your edge. Want to stay sharp and ahead of the game? Start here.
Too many men put off going to the doctor — even when they know something’s wrong. That delay can cost more than time. It can cost your health.
Here’s what we know:
- 49% of Aussie men live with at least one chronic condition.
- 43% have experienced a mental health challenge.
- Only 3% of men eat the recommended amount of fruit and veg.
- And men visit the doctor far less often than women.
The upside? Most health issues are easier to manage if you catch them early. So here’s your simple, effective game plan:
- Move More
Get your heart rate up. Just 2.5 hours of moderate activity a week makes a huge difference.
- Eat Like You Mean It
Fresh fruit, veg, whole grains, lean meats. Skip the junk.
- Quit the Dead Weight
Smoking, vaping, heavy drinking, drug use? Ditch it. Your body bounces back faster than you think.
- Check Your Headspace
Stress, mood swings, anger — don’t ignore the signs. Real strength is asking for help when you need it.
- Sleep Like You Mean It
7–8 hours a night. Sleep isn’t a luxury — it’s your foundation.
- See a Doctor (Before You Need One)
Check in regularly. Know your numbers. And stay up to date with your vaccinations.
“Making healthy choices in your life makes the real difference. One of the most important choices you can make is to regularly see your GP.”
— Dr Will Cross, GV Public Health Unit
Your body’s the only one you’ve got. Look after it like it matters — because it does.
