Leah Wiseman is an experienced and passionate Occupational Therapist with a diverse career spanning clinical practice, education, leadership, and research. She has worked across a range of health and disability settings, including Albury Wodonga Health (AWH), the Southwest Brain Injury Rehabilitation Service (SWBIRS), and the Ballarat Health Service Traumatic Brain Injury team. More recently, her clinical work has focused on supporting individuals with complex disabilities.
With over a decade in leadership roles, Leah has served as an OT Manager and spent five years in mental health as a Redesign Manager and Operational Director. She is currently the Operational Director of Allied Health & Community at Northeast Health Wangaratta and also holds a Care Governance role at Kirinari Community Services.
Leah has contributed to the academic development of future OTs through her role as a lecturer at Charles Sturt University, teaching subjects including Neurology, Clinical Reasoning, Professional Practice, and Research in the undergraduate OT program.
Her doctoral research explored the experience of retirement among farmers, particularly the impact on identity and well-being. Leah’s ongoing research has addressed the translation of stroke guidelines into practice, mental health service responses for people with borderline personality disorder, the experiences of parents of adult children with disabilities, and student placements within the NDIS context.
A strong advocate for social inclusion, Leah is Chair of the Lived Experience Advisory Panel for Ending Loneliness Together Australia. In this capacity, she has contributed to policy conversations at both local and national levels, including an advocacy appearance at Parliament House in August 2024.
Leah was honoured to deliver a keynote address at the Australasian Occupational Therapy and Occupational Science Conference in Sapporo, Japan, in November 2024.
