Sumi John – Clinical Coordinator
Sumi is proud to be part of a diverse, highly skilled team and is excited by innovations such as the centre’s automated insulin pump therapy clinic.
When Sumi John joined GV Health in July 2018, she brought with her decades of international nursing experience and a strong passion for patient-centred care.
After completing her nursing training in India in 2000, Sumi moved to the United Kingdom, working as a theatre nurse in Scotland for many years.
She relocated to Shepparton with her family in 2018, initially continuing her theatre work before transitioning to the GV Health Diabetes Centre.
“I always wanted more direct patient care,” Sumi said.
“In diabetes care, you build long-term relationships and support people to manage a chronic condition, which I find incredibly rewarding.”
Now a Clinical Coordinator and Diabetes Educator, Sumi supports both inpatients and outpatients, focusing on education, empowerment and coordinated care.
She says the move to regional Victoria has been life-changing for her family.
“The weather, lifestyle and community here have been wonderful, and my children are much more active,” she said.
Sumi is proud to be part of a diverse, highly skilled team and is excited by innovations such as the centre’s automated insulin pump therapy clinic.
“Empowering patients to understand and manage their diabetes is what I love most about my role,” she said.
