For Senior Podiatrist Simone Carkeek, every day brings something new, and that’s exactly what she loves about her work.

Simone Carkeek (1)

Simone grew up near Numurkah and studied podiatry in Albury.

“I didn’t plan on doing podiatry,” she said.

“I just knew I wanted to work in health and once I started, I really liked it.”

After finishing university, Simone returned home in 2013 and joined GV Health a year later.

“I thought I’d come back for a year and move on, but I never left,” she said.

“I’ve built great friendships, joined local clubs and always felt supported here.”

Now in her eleventh year, Simone leads a varied and rewarding career in GV Health’s high-risk foot clinic and recently stepped into a Clinical Educator role.

“It’s a new challenge, and I’m really enjoying the opportunity to keep learning while sharing skills that help others grow in their practice,” she said.

Public health, she says, is all about collaboration.

“You work closely with other professions, it’s not solo work,” she said.

“I’m a social butterfly, so that suits me.”

For Simone, what makes GV Health special is its culture of support and opportunity.

“There’s always someone willing to help, to mentor, to encourage you,” she said.

“We all want each other to do our best.

“That’s what keeps me here.”
