After working across metropolitan Melbourne and the Northern Territory, Occupational Therapist Sarah Shipp was ready for a new challenge, one that combined professional growth with a family-friendly lifestyle.

Sarah joined GV Health in 2021 as Occupational Therapy Manager after relocating from Alice Springs with her husband.

While they were keen to be closer to family in Melbourne, returning to city life wasn’t on the cards.

“We really liked the country lifestyle,” she said.

“We didn’t want to go back to the city.”

The role at GV Health, and the support that came with it, ticked all the boxes.

“Relocating to Shepparton was the smoothest and most supportive experience we’ve had,” Sarah said.

“The Community Connector role was amazing.

“It wasn’t just about finding me a job, they looked at my husband’s employment options, accommodation and helped us understand the town.

“That made a big difference when deciding to take the role.”

The couple rented for a year before purchasing their first home and are now raising a young family in Shepparton.

“It’s a really easy lifestyle,” she said.

“We’re close to childcare, the hospital, everything we need.

“And being two hours from Melbourne is perfect, it’s close, but not too close.”

Professionally, Sarah says working regionally has offered far more variety and responsibility than her previous metropolitan roles.

“The caseload is diverse and challenging,” she said.

You’re stretched in different ways, and you get to really know your team.”

Now settled, Sarah says she and her husband both feel part of the GV Health community.

“It’s a place where you’re welcomed, supported, and where your experience really counts.”
