Rowan Farren-Parnell

“It’s incredibly rewarding when a student starts to see themselves working in health.”

Rowan Farren (4)

For Talent Acquisition Coordinator Rowan Farren-Parnell, working at GV Health is more than a job. It is a chance to contribute to the community that raised him. Born and brought up in Greater Shepparton, Rowan has long been active in local advocacy and youth leadership. When an opportunity arose at GV Health in early 2025, he saw the perfect blend of purpose, stability and community impact.

“I wanted a role where the work I do has real meaning,” Rowan said.

“GV Health felt like a place where I could contribute not just to a workplace, but to the region as a whole.”

In his role, no two days look the same. Rowan may be designing targeted recruitment campaigns, improving candidate care or coordinating interviews for high-volume roles. But the part he loves most is engaging with young people, presenting at schools, attending career expos and helping students imagine a future in healthcare.

“It’s incredibly rewarding when a student starts to see themselves working in health,” he said.

“Building aspiration locally is key to addressing workforce shortages in regional communities.”

Nearly a year into the role, Rowan says what sets GV Health apart is its culture of genuine care and connection.

“Even though it’s a large organisation, you feel valued as a person,” he said.

“Colleagues are interested in your life, not just your work.”

Why is he proud to serve?

“Because I get to see the direct impact of strong recruitment for our staff, for our patients and for the future of our region.”
