“You really see the difference you’re making, not just in the hospital, but in the community,”

Vicky and Darren (1)

When doctors Vicky Tan and Darren Lee moved from Malaysia to Shepparton, they weren’t sure what to expect. Both graduated from Monash University Malaysia in 2023 and joined GV Health as interns soon after, their first experience of regional Australia.

“It’s a lot bigger and friendlier than we imagined,” Vicky said.

“We’ve found great support here, both professionally and personally.”

Now working as Hospital Medical Officers, Darren and Vicky say the culture at GV Health has been a standout.

“The medical workforce team is welcoming and flexible. People know you, listen to you, and genuinely want you to succeed,” Darren said.

The pair are also part of the Pre-Vocational Education Committee, helping improve training for junior doctors. Their next goal is to pursue GP training in Shepparton, building on the strong connections and broad clinical experience they’ve gained.

“Working here feels meaningful,” Darren said.

“You really see the difference you’re making, not just in the hospital, but in the community,” Vicky said.
