Clare Hocking
“You see your patients in town, you know their families. That community connection is what makes it special.”
For Nurse Unit Manager Clare Hocking, working at Euroa Hospital is about combining quality care with genuine community connection.
Clare joined GV Health 18 months ago as part of Euroa Health’s acute care service‘s transition to GV Health, bringing nearly two decades of metropolitan nursing experience.
“I’ve worked in big city hospitals, but here it feels more personal,” she said.
“You see your patients in town, you know their families. That community connection is what makes it special.”
In her role, Clare supports the nursing team on the floor, coordinates patient flow with the Shepparton Hospital, and advocates for rural sites across the organisation.
She’s also responsible for recruitment, quality improvement and onboarding new staff, helping to strengthen Euroa Hospital‘s role within the wider GV Health network.
“Even though we’re a small hospital, we have access to incredible support from right across GV Health, from education to quality systems,” Clare said.
“That backing allows us to provide the best possible care locally.”
What keeps her motivated?
“My team,” Clare said.
“They’re an amazing group of people, deeply committed to their patients and proud to serve our local community.”
