33 Apartments to Support GV Health’s Workforce

GV Health has marked the completion of a major new staff accommodation project, with the Minister for Rural and Regional Development, Hon. Michaela Settle, visiting Shepparton Hospital yesterday to celebrate the milestone.

The three-storey complex, built directly adjacent to the hospital, comprises 33 apartments that can house up to 39 doctors, nurses, allied health professionals and other staff joining GV Health.

The South Building (Stage 1) contains 18 apartments, funded through the Regional Health Infrastructure Fund, while the North Building (Stage 2) adds a further 15 apartments, backed by the Regional Worker Accommodation Fund.

Being right next to the hospital means staff can enjoy safe, convenient access to their workplace at all hours, while also supporting a healthier work-life balance, with all the amenities nearby.

GV Health Chief Executive Matt Sharp said the project would be a game changer for the health service’s ability to attract and retain a skilled workforce.

“Access to suitable housing remains one of the greatest challenges in recruiting healthcare professionals to regional Victoria, and these new apartments will play an important role in attracting skilled staff to the Goulburn Valley,” he said.

The apartments have been delivered to a high standard of sustainability, featuring solar power, heat pump hot water systems, double glazing, LED lighting, electric vehicle charging and on-site bike parking.

Each apartment is fully self-contained, with a queen-sized bed, smart TVs, integrated dishwasher, full-size fridge, washer/dryer combo and access to a private courtyard or balcony.

The apartments will begin welcoming their first residents in the coming weeks, with priority initially given to staff currently housed in serviced apartments and rental properties in and around Shepparton.
