Vaccinations are an early Christmas present

The leadup to the holiday and party season is a great time to get vaccinated to avoid getting sick and missing out on events or spending time with friends and family.

Goulburn Valley Public Health’s Unit‘s Jabba the Bus and our pop-up clinics offer a number of vaccinations suitable for a variety of age and eligibility groups. Vaccinations are offered in a safe and accessible way for everyone. Jabba the Bus has three pods, including one able to accommodate a wheelchair and mobility aids. All vaccinations are free and no bookings are required. Just walk in to the pop-up clinic or the bus on the day, but children must be accompanied by an adult. For the most up to date information, go the GV Health Facebook page or visit our website at: https://www.gvhealth.org.au/covid-19/vaxbus/

COVID-19 Vaccination

COVID-19 vaccines are available, including Pfizer for those aged five years and over, and the Moderna Bivalent booster, which is highly responsive to the omicron variant. Getting vaccinated, or boosted if you’re eligible, means you’re also less likely to catch COVID-19. If you do get it and become unwell, you’re less likely to experience severe illness or have to go to hospital.

Japanese Encephalitis Vaccination

Japanese encephalitis vaccines are also on offer to eligible groups – you can get vaccinated for Japanese encephalitis if you: • Live or regularly work in a high-risk area and spend more than four hours a day outdoors while working and for recreation or education. • Live in temporary or flood-damaged accommodation that places you in increased contact with mosquitos. • Are engaging in prolonged stagnant floodwater clean-up. • Are over two months old. The current high-risk areas are Campaspe, Gannawarra, Greater Shepparton, Indigo, Loddon, Mildura, Moira, Swan Hill, Wodonga, Towong, Wangaratta, Strathbogie and Benalla local government areas.
