The GV Rural Health Careers Workshop, being held 1 June 2017, brings together high school students from across the region to explore local careers in health.
More than 120 year 10, 11 and 12 students from throughout the region will visit GV Health and the Department of Rural Health, University of Melbourne campuses, Graham Street, Shepparton, to discover the opportunities available to study and work in the health industry.
The day will showcase 20 different health career disciplines, facilitated by health professionals to inform students about the various health professions available. Students will have the opportunity to explore careers, seek clarification and ask direct questions to industry leaders. The purpose is to inspire secondary age school students through engagement with health industry professionals in an interactive, informal and fun way to inform subject and career decisions.
The day is the result of a collaboration between the Department of Rural Health – University of Melbourne, GV Health, City of Greater Shepparton, La Trobe University, GOTAFE, State Government, Goulburn Murray LLEN and Rumbalara.
