Allied Health Therapy Services for admitted patients at GV Health during their hospital stay and following discharge home include: Allied Health Assistance, Dietetics and Nutrition, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Podiatry, Social Work and Speech Pathology.
Allied Health staff work together with clients and other health professionals to achieve the best possible health outcomes for their clients. These services are available across a range of programs throughout the continuum of care.
Dietetics and Nutrition
Dietitians provide nutrition assessment and advice. Key areas of nutritional service include oral nutritional supplementation, enteral nutrition (tube feeding), malnutrition management, wound healing, diabetes management and dietary counselling.
Occupational Therapy services improve the independence and the ability of patients to undertake self-care activities, work, driving, and leisure activities. Occupational Therapy services are available for all ages.
Physiotherapy aims to optimise a person’s ability to move and function. Physiotherapy services provide assessment and advice. Physiotherapy services are available for all ages.
Podiatrists provide high quality services across a range of programs in the areas of prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of medical and surgical conditions of the foot and lower limb.
Social Workers are members of the treating team and provide practical assistance and emotional support to patients, their families and or cares.
Speech Pathologists provide client-focused service to those needing help with communication and/or swallowing. Speech Pathology services provide assessment and advice to range of services and programs. Speech Pathology services are available for all ages.
