Key Information on COVID-19 – June 2020

The number of people that have tested positive for COVID-19 in the Greater Shepparton and Campaspe regions has not increased in the past 10 days. Both the Moira and Strathbogie regions have not had any additional people test positive for COVID-19 for more than four weeks.

GV Health is continuing to treat inpatients with suspected COVID-19 at Graham Street, Shepparton. There are currently no patients admitted with COVID-19.

GV Health has undertaken a significant amount of community-based testing over the past month and the good news is that there appears to be a low prevalence in our region of COVID-19.

However, it is important that we remain vigilant and follow advice about staying at home, personal distancing and maintaining good, personal hygiene as there is still the chance of a localised outbreak.

PLEASE CONTINUE TO ACCESS HEALTH CARE

There has been a decline in members of the community accessing their usual care and treatment from health care providers such as GPs, clinics, community, mental and acute health services in recent months. Unfortunately we have already seen examples of patients not accessing care early enough and they have become more unwell which has resulted in poorer health outcomes that could have been prevented. Examples of this are occurring in our Emergency Department, clinics, community services and mental health services.

GV Health is aware some people are concerned about the risk of contracting COVID-19 if they are attending a healthcare provider and/or GV Health. The community can be confident that GV Health has robust procedures in place to manage and treat patients with suspected COIVD-19 and it is very safe, and indeed important to continue to access health care.

All visitors entering GV Health must have their temperature taken before entering to determine if it is under 37.5 degrees and you will be asked questions regarding your health. Social distancing markers and signage have been placed in all waiting areas, extra hand sanitiser is available, extra cleaning is being undertaken and face masks and protective clothing is provided for staff, and visitors where necessary.

GV Health’s Screening Station and Acute Respiratory Clinic at GV Health’s Graham Street site are running daily from 10am to 5.15pm.

In addition, a Respiratory Clinic has been established at Princess Park Clinic which is for symptomatic people only and will run on Monday to Friday from 9am to 12 noon and 1pm to 4pm.
