Goulburn Valley officially opened a dedicated Wound Clinic at Corio Street on Wednesday 18 July, as part of its Wound Awareness Week campaign.
GV Health’s West Hume Region Wound Consultant, Gabrielle Munro, says the Wound Clinic will treat people whose wounds may not be healing properly.
“The Clinic’s official opening is timely since GV Health had 1,700 wound-related presentations to the Emergency Department last year,” she said. “About 40% of community patients who visited by GV Health District Nursing Service visited last year had wounds requiring attention. This is about 1,300 people.”
Ms Munro says the District Nursing Service is encouraging the community to talk about their wound and ask for help.
“The new Wound Clinic will be open on Tuesday and Thursday mornings and will operate out of Community Health at GV Health, located at 121-135 Corio Street, Shepparton,” she said.
The clinic will be operated by Gabrielle Munro, who will be supported by district nurses.
“The purpose of the Clinic is to assess and manage wounds in a timely manner with wound care expertise that uses the best available evidence to improve outcomes for patients,” Ms Munro concluded.
