Admitted to practice in 1969, Michael Tehan has been the senior partner of the firm of Tehan George & Co since 1973. Michael is a Notary Public and a qualified mediator.
In 2012 he was recognised by the Law Institute of Victoria as the Regional Lawyer of the Year.
Michael’s expertise and experience spans legal matters, local government, audit, regional development, strategic planning, community networking and development, tourism and hospitality and tertiary education and training.
Michael served on the Board of Goulburn Ovens Institute of TAFE since 1997 and as Board Chair from 2008 to 2017, prior to which he served three years as Deputy Chair. He was a member of the Executive, Audit and Remuneration Committee of the Board.
He is a former Local Government Commissioner and former Chairman of Nagambie Lakes Authority. He is a member of the GVL Independent Tribunal and Chair of the GVL Audit Committee. He is a past President of the Rotary Club of Euroa and has served as a Chair and a Member of many Committees in Rotary International District 9790 and is a multiple Paul Harris fellow.
Michael is a past Board Member of the Benalla Performing Arts and Convention Centre and past Chair of the Strathbogie Shire Council Audit Committee.
Michael has been a senior professional advisor with over 22 years’ experience in public practice leading teams in the delivery of audit/assurance and business services in a range of industries and sectors.
In 2018, he was appointed as a Board Director at Kyabram District Health Service, and subsequently appointed as Chair of their Corporate Governance Committee. Michael is also a Committee member of the Victorian Endurance Riders Association.
Michael is a graduate of the Australia Institute of Company Directors and a Certified Member of the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand.
