Private Patient Advantage

Goulburn Valley Health has implemented a new Private Patient initiative to support people with private health insurance to make an informed decision about using their insurance when they are admitted at Goulburn Valley Health.

The Goulburn Valley Health Private Patient Initiative will guarantee that Private Patients will have no out-of- pocket medical expenses (conditions apply).

Do you have private health insurance?

Before you are admitted to hospital you will be required to make a decision regarding your patient status. That is, you will be classified as either a private or public patient. This information is recorded on your computer file to assist staff at GV Health with your admission and subsequent discharge.

Did you know that you could elect to be a private patient at GV Health?

When admitted to GV Health you have the choice to elect to be admitted as a private patient under the health professional of your choice (where available), excluding mental health.

What are the benefits of using your private health insurance?

Our guarantee to you…

  • No ‘out-of-pocket’ expenses while you are an inpatient at GV Health.
  • Your choice of treating doctor, if they are available, from those doctors who are appointed to practice at GV Health.
  • Follow-up treatment will be delivered in your treating doctor’s rooms or the Specialist Consulting Suite.
  • You will not have to pay any bills. If you do receive medical bills that relate to your hospital inpatient stay, forward them on to the hospital to process.
