GV Health Medical Employment & Education

The GV Health Medical team includes Senior Medical Specialists, Visiting Specialists, Registrars, Hospital Medical Officers and Interns. Together they provide 24 hour, 7 day a week medical coverage for the hospital.

Ongoing medical education for Hospital Medical Officers (HMOs) & Interns is crucial in our approach to quality care & risk management.  More than 300 hours of clinical education sessions are offered annually in a variety of formats including bedside tutorials, video-conferencing, grand rounds, & specialty training. GV Health is not only accredited for GP training as part of the Bogong Regional Training Program, but also accredited for the Advanced Specialists Training Post in a rural area for Medicine, Paediatrics & Psychiatry.

4 rotating from The Alfred Hospital

Rotations offered in the following:
Surgery, Medicine, Emergency, Anaesthetics, Rehabilitation, Orthopaedics and Psychiatry

2nd Year (10)
Suitable for General Practice training. Rotations in Accident & Emergency, PGPPP Northern Territory, Psychiatry, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Oncology, Anaesthetics, ICU, Orthopaedics, Rehabilitation, Geriatrics and  Paediatrics.

3rd year & above (17)
Suitable for General Practice training. Rotations in Paediatrics, Accident & Emergency, Obstetrics & Gynaecology (accredited Diploma of Obstetrics position), Intensive Care, General Practice, Anaesthetics and Psychiatry.

We have an average of eight doctors pass their Australian Medical Clinical Exams to receive their Certificate annually.
