GV Health Consumer Consultative Committee (CCC)

GV Health recognised the importance of formal consumer involvement in the health service many years ago.  The consumer participation task group developed a framework for consumer involvement at GV Health which culminated in the development of the Consumer Consulative Committee which consists of senior GV Health staff and 11 consumer members.  The first meeting was held in February 2005.  Subsequently the Department of Human Services formalised this committee at GV Health.

Purpose

Community advisory (consultative) committees are established in Victoria to increase consumer, carer and community participation in public health services.

Role

The community advisory committee has two critical roles:

1. to provide direction and leadership in relation to the integration of consumer, carer and community views into all levels of health service operations, planning and policy development

2. to advocate to the board on behalf of the community, consumers and carers.

The chair of this committee is an active member of the GV Health Quality and Risk Manament Committee and this enables the promotion of consumer and community particiation at all levels of GV Health.
