Annette was appointed as GV Health’s Director Quality & Risk in November 2009.
Over the past 22 years, Annette has worked in the New Zealand Health and Disability and Social Services sectors, specialising in developing and/or implementing quality and risk management systems and quality improvement initiatives at organisational and service levels including:
- Risk Management frameworks for Child Youth and Family (CYF), Ministry of Social Development and Capital & Coast District Health Board (C&CDHB)
- Clinical Governance framework – C&CDHB
- Document control and policy, procedure and guideline frameworks for CYF & C&CDHB
- Emergency Management & Business Continuity framework - CYF
- Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative – C&CDHB
- Women’s Health Service Quality Improvement model and structure – C&CDHB
- Day Stay Cataract Pilot – C&CDHB
She contributed to the development of New Zealand’s Quality Improvement and Risk Management frameworks.
Annette received her Master of Quality Improvement in Health Care (MQIHC) from Newcastle University, NSW. Her research was on Staff use and knowledge of Maternity Care Plans.
She earned a Graduate Diploma in Business Studies (Health) from Massey University. Her Health Care Law research was on Consent issues for the sterilisation of intellectually disabled females.
She has practised as a Registered Nurse and Midwife in NSW and served as a research nurse for a multicentre study by the Otago University, New Zealand.
Annette has health management experience in women’s health, emergency, trauma, flight retrieval, quality, risk and emergency management services.
She is a Fellow of the Australasian Association for Quality in Health Care.
At GV Health, Annette is responsible for quality improvement, risk management and consumer satisfaction services. She works closely with the Executive and Board of Directors to formulate and implement a strategic and system driven approach to the management of quality, safety, and risk at GV Health. This is done in consultation with committees and individuals in relation to the development and implementation of clinical and corporate governance principles and activities to effectively manage risk, reduce patient harm, and improve the effectiveness of care provided.
