GV Mental Health

 

The Goulburn Valley Area Mental Health Service (which is a department of Goulburn Valley Health) provides an innovative range of services for those individuals suffering from or at risk of serious mental health problems requiring short and long term support and care.  The services are provided to the municipalities of Mitchell, Murrindindi, Strathbogie, City of Greater Shepparton and Moira.  

Our mission is to reduce the impact of mental illness on individuals, their families and communities, by providing the best possible psychiatric treatment and care in the least restrictive environment.  We take an integrated approach to client care addressing physical, psychological, social and environmental factors, which may contribute to the clients' problems.  GVAMHS aims to provide consumer/carer focused and culturally sensitive practice for people living within the region.

The GVAMHS is staffed by an experienced professional team comprised of consultant psychiatrists, medical officers, psychiatric nurses, psychologists, social workers and occupational therapists, committed administrative staff and support and secretarial services.

  • Outreach services to outlying areas of the region
  • Ability to link in to statewide services for speciality consultation
  • Education and consultancy services to other agencies

Services Available:

Referral to any of the GVAMHS services can be made in person, telephone and/or letter by yourself, your family and friends, your general practitioner or by other services providing assistance to you.
